Biography

"Visionary Creator"

Ferdousi Islam

BA(Honors), MA in Fine Arts

I was born and grew up in Bangladesh, presently settled and reside in Toronto ON Canada.

Oil painting and printmaking were my major in the field of study. Women and Nature were the topics of my thesis and research. I worked on the subject matter in the form of oil painting and in various print media (etching, woodcut, silkscreen).

I have participated in several group art exhibitions and art workshops in Bangladesh, Canada and the USA.

My passion in arts and work with the children drove me to establish and operate a Children Art School named “Impression” to teach children painting, sketching and drawing to develop their abstract thinking with color and brushes. Occasionally, I work as Art instructor in various community-based social services organizations in Toronto.

I am actively engaged with community activities to develop common interests, social advocacy to create mass awareness, provide resourceful information among the community to establish healthy and culturally enriched society. I am an organizing member of Toronto Meditation Society and member of Art Quest Canada.

Apart from painting and teaching I love travelling and exploring the beauties of natural landscapes and cultures of various parts of the world.

My objective is to enrich Childrens and Youths to keep their brain relaxed and peaceful to think and act positively and build their imagination thinking with colors and brushes. Art enhances creative imaginary brain activities, boost mental health, and improve interpersonal relationships
I believe imagination is more powerful than knowledge and with this belief I encourage students to use their imagination creatively to solve their problems and to reach their goal.
Besides school activities we also participate various art competition, art workshop and art exhibitions with children’s creative art works.
